Holistic wellness, as a term, can have various meanings. It depends on the person, their journey with fitness/nutrition, and the different social and cultural contexts.
Wellness is something that is very much talked about in magazines, TV programmes, and social media. But, I think some people base the meaning of this individualistic concept on how others interpret it. There’s nothing wrong with that. But, perhaps, it could be more useful to have your own meaning. This happens by finding a balance and listening to what your body needs.
The 360Wellness Tracker
The 360Wellness app helps you build a healthy relationship with your body and environment with its revolutionary tracker. I recently explored the four sections which make up the 360Wellness Tracker: fitness, nutrition, recovery, and feelings section.
The fitness section of the 360Wellness Tracker helps you journal your fitness journey in easy and simple steps. You can book a class on the app with a fitness instructor. After you attend it, your fitness tracker will be automatically updated with the type of activity you’ve been doing. The activities provided by our app ranges from HIIT to LYFT exercises. Thus, there’s a nice variety to inspire you to move your body on that day.
You can choose your favorite activity and always update your fitness tracker manually. This includes more traditional ones, like running, cycling, yoga, and activities which include other people like basketball and soccer. After choosing your activity, you select the duration of that session and the perceived level intensity. This last value is important in tracking your progress across time. It tracks if an activity is still a challenge for your body or not. It helps you understand if you have developed higher resistance with regular training.
Since fitness goals can’t be generalized for everyone, the 360Wellness Tracker helps you personalize your goals. It asks you to select the age group you belong to: under 17, 18-64, and 65 and over. It also helps you understand how much you should focus on fitness. The tracker includes a weekly goal of medium intensity exercise (150 minutes) backed by the World Health Organization (WHO). However, that doesn’t mean that everyone needs to stick to this weekly goal. You can still personalize it further and input your own fitness goal. It ranges from 1 hour to 35 hours of activity per week.
As a result, the 360Wellness Tracker guides you and keeps track of your fitness journey. It doesn't tell you what to do, instead, it stays with you as a companion. The tracker sets your goals based on your personal preferences and ambitions. It makes fitness more enjoyable.
The 360Wellness Nutrition Tracker allows you to also track the progress of your diet and the foods that you eat. The trackers give you a variety of diets to choose from. For example, keto, high-carb low-fat, omnivore, and vegan diets. You can also manually change your diet and continue to keep track of your nutrition.
The Tracker also collects points for your overall Wellness Score, twice a week. And, nutrition is an important aspect to improve your score. As you eat meals from the high-quality food category, you add the portions of nutrients by pressing the ‘+’ button. This lets you gain a certain amount of points. However, if you eat ‘junk food’ which is part of the low-quality foods category, then you lose wellness points.
This points’ system encourages you to eat better and avoid unhealthy eating habits. Thus, you achieve a higher Wellness score and keep yourself on track with your wellness journey.
The 360Wellness Recovery Tracker combines your sleep duration and other recovery methods that help to unwind and relax. When logging into your recovery section for the first time, you’ll be asked to personalize it. It starts by registering your ‘minimal sleep required’ i.e. rest hours needed for you to be functional. It also asks you to put in your ‘optimal amount of sleep’. This sleep is what allows you to be fully rested to start your day at 100%.
But, recovery is not only about sleep, it consists of other techniques too. This includes various therapies to relax and rest your muscles. Among the recovery techniques, you can choose acupressure, balneotherapy, massage, etc. You can also do social activities like board games, reading, etc; that help your brain to unwind and build relationships.
The Wellness Score also takes into account the recovery techniques you log onto the app. Thus, for every activity related to the recovery section, you gain some points. This is important as wellness isn't just about how much you move. It also considers the time you dedicate for yourself to restore energy and recover.
As you log into the Feel section of the 360Wellness Tracker, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The tracker asks you to choose three emotions to describe how you feel at the start of the day. This is a nice way of journaling your emotions. It shows how your mood and energy levels change throughout the weeks.
You might be interested in knowing how you felt a certain day and how that impacted your overall wellness. The tracker helps you to easily measure your feelings throughout the week. It also provides you with a personalized Feel report every other day.
The Feel report is also quite comprehensive in understanding your emotions. It includes 40 different mood states ranging from happy to confused to open. This allows you to visualize your emotions and their impact on your well-being. The report serves as a great reminder to take care of your mental and physical health.
We are all at different stages of our journey to wellbeing and also different relationships with our bodies. Thus, it's important to not compare yourself to others and focus on yourself first. Plus, it’s also important to not rush this focus. The drive to constantly challenge yourself is equally harmful to your health. You can take it slow and take one step at a time. It can be tough to understand immediately what you want. So, whether you’re a beginner or a pro starting, it’s better to not overwhelm yourself with all things branded ‘wellness’.
